Design Concepts For The Home & Garden
The house was in the perfect location, the 1 acre grounds were overgrown with a plethora of specimen plantings. The pool was located on the busy street side of the property, a problem. The flow of the house was interesting if not good.
I changed the front of the dated 80’s house with the half round window into a modern, clean look by removing the half round window and replacing it with a series of squared windows and facing it with mahogany, a much richer texture than siding.
I enlarged all eyebrow windows with extra large windows, new sliders, renovated the kitchen, and baths. I added a fireplace at one end of the living room, pushed out the living room by 3 ft., moved the pool to the side of the house which allowed me to design something special with a water feature, the noise from the street being greatly reduced. The overgrown gardens required the moving of many of the plantings for the ultimate wow factor, redesigned the entrance to the house with tar and gravel drive trimmed with 12 ft. of Belgian block, and designed electronic tongue and groove mahogany gates with lights which complimented the front of the house.
