Design Concepts For The Home & Garden
This project was close to a total gut job. The 2nd floor was barely livable so I ended up by removing the entire 2nd floor and picking up an additional 500 square feet of additional living space, 8 foot ceilings, tons of closet space, over sized windows and 2 additional full bathrooms for a total of 3 full bathrooms. It was a particularly small lot, less than a 10th of an acre so I had to make the most of it. Thus, I defined it with white fencing and gardens surrounding the interior of the fencing. I gave privacy to the back deck using trellising on both sides so that I would protect the homeowner from prying eyes. I also changed out all of the plantings along the front and sides of the house as they were now after 60 years of growth too big for the house. Last I gutted the kitchen and removed a wall opening it up to the living area and went all new with a clean modern look. Finally, the basement was completely renovated into a very attractive living space.
